Skype for Conference Rooms

Did you know that it can cost well over $20,000 to equip a conference room with traditional teleconferencing equipment? I didn't - until I started working at Skype. We developed Surface based solution that could be delivered at a fraction of the cost. More importantly, it's a breeze to use - no obstacles between you and that monthly business review.

I came into the project in it's final two months. The dev team had built a fantastic set of services with a rock solid client app, but the design team needed to over haul the look and feel ASAP. So they put me in. During that time I adapted to a new team, picked up a few new tools, coordinated with designers and re-skinned the whole experience.

Or goals here were simple; eliminate barriers to get the user in the right meeting in under 5 seconds flat. Big buttons and a clutter free design were keys to making it happen.

Often, there's more going on in a meeting than what's being projected. The app displayed chat messages and files being shared in the meeting.
